About us
South Cape Collection is a privately owned, family-run group with roots stretching back four generations. Our story began in 1934, when the great-grandmother of today’s owner and host, Stig Ubostad, welcomed travellers by renting out parts of her farmland along the southern coast of Norway.
Today, the Ubostad family — represented by Stig, Kathrine and Hege — remains actively involved in daily operations. While the family has grown beyond its original roots, our values remain the same. South Cape Collection is now a larger family of hosts, chefs, craftsmen, and storytellers, united by a shared passion for creating meaningful experiences for both our guests and the local community.
We have chosen to focus on a distinct stretch of coastline we call “lighthouse to lighthouse” — from Lindesnes Lighthouse to Lista Lighthouse, at the very southern edge of Norway. This is where we live, where we have grown up, and where generations before us shaped their lives. We know the nature, the history, and the people of this place — and it is this deep connection that allows us to create experiences that are both authentic and unforgettable.
At South Cape Collection, hospitality is not about scale, but about care. About knowing the land, respecting nature, and welcoming guests into a landscape and a way of life we are proud to call home.
